Destiny

It's a steep winding road that we're travelling till

The bright daylight has faded to night

And we try so hard as we climb up that hill

To make everything work out just right

And when it's all behind us on the outside looking in

Was it meant to be, was it written on the wind

And do you wear your karma like a second skin

Or do you pass it to your children like original sin

If the troubles of the fathers are laid upon the sons

Does it matter if we only sit and wait

Do we need this absolution when we've only just begun

Has destiny already sealed your fate

As you map out your future and predict the end

And try and interpret the dreams

Can your free will change what waits round the bend

Is the present not quite what it seems

Did you see it in the tarot, did you read it in the leaves

Consult with Nostradamus, if he's to be believed

And studying your lifeline do you feel that you're reprieved

And if time is all around us can the future be retrieved

Oh you prophecy the future when you can't resolve the past

When the warning comes already it's too late

And the only thing for certain is tomorrow comes at last

That's destiny you can't escape your fate

Take a look at your life as it drifts down the years

Blown around by some stray cosmic wind

And try and explain how you came to be here

And pretend this was just what you planned

Now always the observer on the outside looking in

Was it meant to be, was it written on the wind

Do you wear your karma like a second skin

Or do you pass it to your children like original sin

If the troubles of the fathers are laid upon the sons

Does it matter if we only sit and wait

Do we need this absolution when we've only just begun

Has destiny already sealed your fate

Oh you prophecy the future when you can't resolve the past

When the warning comes already it's too late

And the only thing for certain is the reaper comes at last

That's destiny you can't escape your fate

Your destiny's already sealed your fate

Yeah destiny's already sealed your fate
